Score one for the little guy. The Nintendo Wii is what you can consider the David while coming out ahead against the two Goliaths of the video gaming industry otherwise known as Microsoft Xbox and the Sony PlayStation 3. Don’t get me wrong, Nintendo has been in the gaming business a long time. However, rather competing with its rivals for the best graphics, the most functionality and the biggest hard drive capacity, it decided to revolutionize how we play games instead.
You’ve probably heard, or read about the new craze in motion detection video games. Heck, you might have participated in these games yourself. These games can be a lot of fun when you add full body movement into your virtual world game play. This is what the Nintendo Wii has added to the gaming world: realism when playing games. No longer is it only your thumbs that are getting the workout by pressing buttons on the input game controller. You can now use body movements to สล็อต control how your virtual game character moves. This was a huge breakthrough that led to casual and non-gamers giving the Wii a try. Before, this segment of the population was intimidated by hard core gamers familiar with pressing “special move” buttons that would come naturally with lots of practice. With friendlier game play, it led to a more even playing field amongst a larger audience. And of course, it’s always more fun to play with more people.
The Nintendo Wii has also utilized its motion detection capabilities to the fullest by offering Wii Sports and Wii Fitness games. No longer can video gamers be accused of being couch potatoes. Fitness gurus are trying to capitalize on the Wii craze by producing fitness games for the Wii so you don’t need to go to the gym in order to work out. You can sweat it out in the comfort of your own home and it’s not as boring as being on the elliptical in front of the TV. You actually have fun while playing video games and exercising.
As you can see, the Wii was not designed with the best graphics or the best functionality in mind. In this case, eye candy did not win the battle of the game console. However, what the Wii was designed for, it does extremely well. By transferring body movements into digital signals, the Wii has brought the casual gamers into the fold. It just shows that there is a gamer in all of us if you can make it accessible to everybody.
